The completion of Parts I & Part II are due when you come into class on Tuesday, June 8! (Students planning on using a Photo Transfer, please also see Part III)
Part I:
In your sketchbook, complete the following questions.
1) What is your chosen "issue"?
2) Why have you chosen this "issue" for your collage & portrait?
3) What is your stance on the issue? (Are you for it or against it? What are your feelings about it)
4) How are you going to narrow down this broad topic? What specific component of this issue will you focus on for your collage? (Ex. If your topic is "Cancer", are you focusing on a specific type of cancer, the treatment of cancer, research about curing cancer, the side-effects of radiation and chemotherapy, etc.?)
Part II
Research your specific topic (visit a library, search online, read the newspaper, etc.) and compile one full page (can be typed on your computer, or written in your sketchbook) of valuable information you have discovered. DO NOT VISIT ONE WEBSITE AND PRINT OUT THE INFORMATION FROM THAT WEBSITE AS YOUR RESEARCH! Your research should consist of information you have found from MULTIPLE SOURCES.
*Tip: Try to find information that surprises you, excites you, shocks you, or is something you never knew before. This type of information helps with triggering the most ideas for artwork.
Part III (OPTIONAL...THIS IS ONLY FOR STUDENTS WHO PLAN ON USING A PHOTO TRANSFER IN THEIR COLLAGE!)
Print out images that you would like to include in your collage, so that I can photocopy them for you to complete a photo transfer.
*Tip: Remember to search for images that are HIGH CONTRAST and IN FOCUS (clear). Also, try to find images that are large enough for your collage (No tiny images).
